14D I LAST WORD The Virginia Gazette April 4, 2009
King William Reservoir
“At the Williamsburg City Council meeting,
citizens spoke firmly against the city manager’s
plan with Newport News Waterworks. One
speaker said it was idiotic to spend huge amounts
of money for water that doesn’t exist and a reservoir
that hasn’t been built. But council ignored
the citizens and rubberstamped the proposal.
Now a judge has ruled against the King William
Reservoir project. The phrase ‘dead in the water’
may apply. Newport News so far has spent millions
for nothing, and Williamsburg threw its
money down the drain. We think the speaker who
urged taking care of Waller Mill Reservoir had
exactly the right idea.”
